Despite continued challenges with public events due to the novel coronavirus this year’s Villara Capital Cup, which raised over $5 million for charity in its first five years, will take place Sep. 25 - 27. The 3-day tournament will take place at three local golf courses. What makes this tournament unique is not only the large amounts of money raised for local charities, but the fact that this tournament is played by only a small group of players who raise all the funds for donation. Last year, 32 players raised $1,402,661 and this year the courses will host just 28 players. The players are made up of some of the region’s most respected and philanthropic business leaders.

The Capital Cup is a three-day golf tournament in which two teams compete for a purse, which has been raised this year from $55,000 to $115,000, on behalf of their selected charities. The purse was significantly increased in large part due to the generosity of this year’s title sponsor, Villara Building Systems, which is donating $45,000 directly to the charities. The tournament has occurred annually since 2015, raising substantially more dollars each year.
