Listen: Bill George, Pres of Sac Historical Society.
Steve and Susie Swatt, coauthors of Paving the Way: Women's Struggle for Political Equality in California, will weave into a 170-year historical narrative the dramatic personal stories of dozens of mostly unsung and long-forgotten trailblazing women who challenged traditional concepts of femininity and helped shape California’s public landscape. Their presentation will take us from the post-Gold Rush era and the decades-long fight for suffrage, through the turbulent and transformative 1960s and 1970s, into today's #MeToo movement.
