Listen: ABC's Alex Stone. Black licorice. You either love it or you hate it. Well, after the death of a 54-year-old construction worker in Massachusetts who ate a bag and a half of black licorice every day for a couple of weeks, doctors are warning that there are dangers in eating it. Even small amounts can shoot up underlying blood pressure problems. And eating tons of it messes with your body’s potassium. And they say you have to be careful because black licorice is often added to teas, candies, and even beer to give it flavor. It’s so serious the FDA even put out a PSA a while back warning not to eat too much black licorice at Halloween.
