The week of May 9th is National Police Week, which honors officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
Yolo County has endured the loss of 12 of its community protectors since 1912. Most recently, the murder of Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona, which occurred on January 10, 2019. Yolo County District Attorney will honor officers killed in the line of duty at a memorial walk to remember scheduled for May 13th
Due to COVID-19, there will not be a public event this year, but the Yolo County Retired Peace Officers Association will hold a private abbreviated event honoring fallen officers at the Peace Officers Memorial monument located on the grounds of the old historic court house in Woodland.
The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office will go forward with their annual walk to remember, beginning at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021. The public is welcome to join in this outdoor, socially-distanced event, which will begin at the memorial monument located at 725 Court Street, in Woodland. Masks are encouraged especially for those in high-risk categories or with compromised health. The walk is about one mile in length and will end in Heritage Plaza.
