Listen: Special Agent in Charge Sean Ragan who talks about the FBI Sacramento Field Office’s Citizens Academy which offers a unique experience for civil, business, and religious community leaders residing or working within the greater Sacramento region.

The FBI Citizens Academy provides seven weeks of classroom instruction—one evening each week--at the FBI Sacramento Field Office’s headquarters in Roseville near Highway 65. Classes offer an in-depth exploration of the FBI’s investigative priorities including terrorism, counterintelligence, civil rights, cybercrime, public corruption, and violent crime. The classroom sessions are also complemented by a day of optional, in-person demonstrations by specialty teams and a gun safety lesson.

The Fall 2021 FBI Citizens Academy class begins in September 2021. Classes require a commitment of three hours for each class session that is held one evening a week for seven weeks. The one-day, optional experience is held on a weekend.

To be considered for the Fall 2021 FBI Citizens Academy Class, visit https://forms.fbi.gov/fbi-citizens-academy-nomination-form-sacramento/view to submit a self-nomination or nominate someone else. Applications must be submitted by August 6, 2021. Leaders selected for the class will be notified and provided with additional information.

There are a variety of “range days” that are designed to offer gun safety instruction and some insight into our Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. All of our “students” will join a network of hundreds of local leaders who have graduated our FBI Citizens Academy programs in Sacramento and Fresno; they also are part of a national network comprised of alumni from classes held across the country.
