Hawaii’s governor is asking tourists to not travel to the islands because of rising COVID cases. It is a major blow to the economy of the state which has been rebounding and booming after last year when Hawaii was mostly void of tourists. The Governor says hospitals are just too full right now and they need resources to be available to locals rather than tourists who fly in. This comes despite Hawaii’s strict quarantine, testing, or vaccine proof requirements to fly into the state. Also, Oahu, home to Honolulu is banning all large gatherings. Companies that rely on money from weddings in Hawaii say this new rule could devastate them.
