Listen: Helping Handbags Fundraiser with Lauren Spiere with the SA Women's Auxiliary.
For the past 17 years, The Salvation Army Sacramento Area Women’s Auxiliary has hosted the beloved Helping Handbags fundraiser. Every year, they auction off designer handbags and wonderful prizes to support Salvation Army programs that help women and children. But since the pandemic, the group has had to make some changes to continue raising crucial funds, while keeping donors safe. This year, the annual event on Saturday, October 9, will include for the first time ever, a live auction on YouTube featuring Kitty O’Neal of KFBD and Freddie Silveria of FSA Auctions.
Donors will be able to participate in the live auction by signing up to bid at https://sacas2021.ggo.bid/bidding/package-browse.They can watch the auction live at youtube.com/watch?v=vCKmssKE3Kg. The virtual auction begins at 11:30 a.m. on October 9 with a pre-show and the live main event begins at 12:00 p.m.
Helping Handbags will still honor its shopping roots. There will be an in-person shopping event at Del Oro Divisional Headquarters, located at 3755 N. Freeway Blvd. in Sacramento featuring over 250 designer handbags. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. The shopping event will last until 1:00 p.m. Attendees must wear masks, but it is free to attend.
There will also be a small, exclusive in-person watch party on site where attendees can participate in the virtual auction. You can reserve a ticket to the VIP Watch Party by emailing Silva.Muradyan@usw.salvationarmy.org. Small bites and beverages will be provided. Tables of 6 can be reserved for $100. Single tickets are $20. Tickets may be available at the door, but seating is limited.
Shoppers don’t have to wait until October 9 to get in on the Helping Handbags action. The silent auction is now open and is accepting bids. Head to https://sacas2021.ggo.bid/bidding/package-browse to get started. There you can bid on designer handbags, a getaway to Carmel, a yacht charter cruise, an Amador County wine tasting, and much more.
