Listen: Sonia Kastner, CEO and founder of Pano, a new wildfire detection technology company based in San Francisco.
As climate change increases the number of and intensity of wildfires, Pano’s proprietary Rapid Detect camera technology is currently in pilot by the Aspen Fire Protection District, the Big Sky, Montana Fire Department, as well as power utility companies PG&E and Portland General and Lake County and South Bay, California.
You can see here how their cameras work (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odNRM3kP9aI). Sonia founded Pano in July 2020 in the wake of the Australian bushfire crisis, recognizing how AI could be used to detect fires before they spread.
An experienced technology executive and investor, Sonia has significant experience at large-scale technology companies like Juul Labs, Nest, and Whistle Labs. She holds an MBA from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Harvard University.
