ABC's Alex Stone: New CDC Data is Raising New Questions Over COVID Mandates

Florida has fought most COVID mandates and has almost zero rules. In fact the handful of school districts that mandated masks in classrooms are now dropping those mandates. Florida’s 7 day death rate is 11 times lower than California’s and CA counties still have mask and vaccine mandates in place. Daily case rates are currently double in CA compared to Florida. Much of the Deep South is now experiencing the lowest rate of spread in the nation. It has some asking if COVID rules do any good if rates are rising in places where rules are the strictest and dropping in places where rules are the loosest. Doctors in California, though, say you can’t just pay attention to this one moment because COVID rates will rise and fall. They say you should pay attention to the overall death rates for COVID in which FL and less restrictive states far outpace more restrictive states. Doctors are also trying to figure out why cases are exploding in some places like Colorado and New Mexico.
