President Biden says Verizon and AT&T's agreement to delay deployment of 5G towers around key airports will avoid "devastating disruptions" to passenger travel and the economy. Airlines have warned that hundreds of thousands of planes could be grounded this week over concerns that 5G cellphone signals will interfere with flight technology. Biden said his administration has been working with wireless carriers and airlines to "chart a path forward for 5G deployment and aviation to safely co-exist."
Verizon and AT&T says the government has had two years to plan for the rollout and that 5G is "safe and fully operational in more than 40 other countries."
