The Placer County District Attorney’s Office is now officially accepting applications for their 2022 spring citizens academy.
“Our 2021 launch proved to be a tremendous success, said Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire. “The reaction from the community for the academy showed us how eager residents are to learn about what we do. We are excited to offer this resource again in 2022 and meet even more of our residents.”
The Placer County District Attorney’s Citizens Academy is a nine-week program that will offer accelerated courses each week. During the academy, Placer County citizens will learn about the District Attorney’s Office, its role within the criminal justice system and the services that are provided to the community.
Scheduled academy courses will include an overview of the D.A.’s Office, education about the criminal justice process, information on special victim cases, Collaborative Courts and victims services, along with an introduction to the District Attorney Investigations Unit and more.
Applications are now open. Space is limited and accepted participants will receive notification of their acceptance into the academy prior to the start. Notification will also be made to those who were not accommodated due to capacity issues. The course starts March 14 and will be held every Monday from 6-8:30 p.m. through May 9 at the Auburn Justice Center Community Room.
