Just a couple of months before COVID-19 began its first surge in California, Emily Autenrieth opened her pop-up book shop -A Seat at the Table Books. After finding success at Elk Grove’s NeighborGood Market and Savvy House Coffee Bar, Emily took a risk not many others are brave enough to do - even without a pandemic - and opened her brick-and-mortar bookstore and coffee house on November 24, 2021.
While the opening of the store has had its share of COVID-related challenges, Emily owes much of the success she has found to creating a supportive community on Facebook and Instagram, where she shares new book releases, coffee and food offerings, and events her shop is holding, including author book readings.
