ABC's Alex Stone: OIL PRICES NOW IMPACTING YOUR NEXT AIRLINE RESERVATION

Listen: ABC's Alex Stone

The country’s biggest airlines say they are feeling the impacts of higher oil prices. Even though oil prices have eased a bit in recent days, the higher overall price and the spikes, are costing airlines a whole lot more. It can cost over $336,000 to fill up a newer model Boeing 777 for a long haul flight right now. United, Delta, and American Airlines are presenting at a conference today and Delta was the first to say it will be raising its ticket prices about $20 each way to offset the higher price of fuel. United says prices are up but also it will focus on more upselling to expensive seats onboard for business travelers. The airlines say demand is also way up since Omicron has eased. And business travel is booming again.
