Listen: John Norman talks about the honor and his history in the building industry here in California.
Sacramento-area developer John Norman has been selected as one of five homebuilding leaders statewide to be named to the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame in 2022. Honorees are selected for their leadership, innovation and philanthropy in the homebuilding industry.
Norman currently is Vice President of Brookfield Properties Development, Sacramento. He has led the company’s Sacramento-area office since 2004, responsible for land entitlement and development. Among his significant achievements was helping to end the long-standing building moratorium in North Natomas, which led to the construction of dozens of new communities along with commercial developments and job creation.
He currently is leading Brookfield’s development of the 694-acre Amoruso Ranch project in northwest Roseville, which will ultimately include 2,800 homes, along with seven parks, a fire station, elementary school, commercial development and 135 acres of open space.
Norman has 42 years of combined consulting and homebuilding experience in implementing master-planned communities, infill, and mid-rise mixed-use projects. He has served as Chair of the North State Building Industry Association and the California Building Industry Association and was a founding member of the Roseville Community Development Corporation, serving as secretary/treasurer. In addition, as a Placer County SPCA Board Member, he helped guide the development of its $14 million facility in 2018 that was completed debt-free.
