Herenda says:
In his postdraft press conference, Kings GM Monte McNair shared that there is no mandate to make the playoffs this season — reading into this McNair’s job is not on the line if Sacramento doesn’t snap a 16-year NBA playoff drought.
His goal remains to put the best team on the court this year and for years to come.
Other Kings draft moves:
The Kings acquired two future second-round draft picks from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for the 37th pick.
With the 49th pick, the Kings acquired the rights to 26-year-old Bulgarian forward Sasha Vezenkov and cash considerations from the Cavaliers. McNair said the 6-foot-9 Veznekov offers positional size as well as shooting prowess -- 43% from 3-point range this past season in the Euro League and is just entering his prime.
The GM says, the "Bulgarian Battler", has a great feel for the game, and is already producing in the second-best league in the world. McNair likes the first-team All-Euro League product's potential fit with De'Aaron Fox and Damontas Sabonis due to his ability to stretch the floor and make shots but it’s unclear when/if he’ll be in a Kings' uniform.
