Listen: John Foley, Executive Director of Sacramento Self-Help Housing and the "Let Them Eat Cake." fundraiser Thursday, July 14.
Sacramento Self-Help Housing, a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of homelessness in our region, is proud and excited to present the signature “Let Them Eat Cake” fundraising event in a hybrid format on Thursday evening, July 14, 2022 at 6 p.m. While sponsors, partners and interested community members have the opportunity to participate in-person, the celebratory event will also be livestreamed via Facebook Live (on both the Sacramento Self-Help Housing & Let Them Eat Cake pages). The in-person component of the event will be held in the spacious atrium of the Sacramento Self-Help Housing offices located at 1010 Hurley Way. The 2022 “Let Them Eat Cake” event is being held on Bastille Day, appropriate given it is believed that Marie Antoinette may have coined the memorable “Let them eat cake” phrase shortly before the French Revolution.
The community is invited to attend the event or tune in to learn more about the non-profit organization and hear from dedicated staff and volunteers who work diligently all year long to make a difference to those in need. Plus, the community can watch a deliciously delightful cake tasting/judging by Mark S. Allen, seven-time Emmy Award winner and member of ABC10’s morning news along with Patrick Harbison, owner of PHPR and board member for the Sacramento LGBT Community Center. Cakes will be judged in three categories that include: Most Creative, Most Beautiful, and Best Tasting (open to amateur bakers only). Due to popular demand, cake entries are being accepted from the community for the 2022 cake baking contest and prizes will be awarded. For those interested in entering a cake into the competition, please email dcorea@sacselfhelp.org.
