Cecily Hastings Ends 10 Year Stewardship of McKinley Rose Garden

It's been 10 years since Hastings and Lisa Schmidt, both unpaid volunteers, and Friends of East Sac raised more than a quarter million dollars from donors large and small.

Ten years ago, in just six months, they replanted the entire 1,200 McKinley rose bush public garden and they restored the historic clubhouse, which dates from 1935. Their decade-long commitment ends today and there is concern about how the City of Sacramento will adequately care for the park and clubhouse.
