The Sacramento Police Department is hosting four free active-shooter preparedness and response training courses in April in partnership with the Federal Department of Homeland Security.

The virtual training courses are open to all members of the public including businesses and local government partners. The training is 90 minutes and will be led by emergency response consulting and training firm Guardian Defense.

“The training will help to ensure members of the public, employees and businesses can be prepared and respond appropriately when an active threat has been identified,” said Sac PD Sgt. Zach Eaton.

Participants will learn about the active-shooter crisis and why it is unique compared to other emergencies. They also will learn how to respond to active threats and comprehend how to respond when law enforcement arrives.

Attendees must register prior to the training. Those interested can register at the below links:

The classes are singular and not progressive; those interested need only to register for one class.
