Police across the country continue to battle what is known as “crime tourism” in which bands of South American suspects utilizing easy to get tourist visas enter the US to burglarize high end homes with highly sophisticated tactics, drop the loot with their gang to be fenced, and head back to South America. Homes from coast to coast have been hit by the “tourist burglars” who have no history in the U.S. and are often able to head back home on their tourist visas before police ever figure out their identities. They drive rental cars utilizing fake ID’s, know how to get in through second story balconies, jam the WiFi, and are typically gone long before police arrive. It is a growing problem nationwide
