Community leaders gathered Thursday to celebrate construction just underway at Fairytale Town on a new Welcome Center building that will transform the park entrance.
The new Welcome Center will greatly improve the guest experience at Fairytale Town, by speeding entry to alleviate long lines, adding desperately needed restrooms, launching a gift shop – and featuring a beautiful clock tower that will become a Land Park icon.
A $200,000 state grant advocated by Senator Angelique Ashby is a key element to funding for the $2.5 million project.
The Welcome Center will open in April 2024. It’s a $2.5 million construction project.
Since 1959, children have been enthralled by the magical world of Fairytale Town, with its 26 fanciful playsets and family of barnyard animals. More than 250,000 people visit the park in a typical year, making it a top 5 Sacramento destination. A nonprofit, its mission is to foster imagination, creativity and education in children.
