The minimum wage for fast food workers in California is set to increase to $20 per hour on April 1, but the law exempts businesses that produce and sell bread as a stand-alone menu item.

Governor Gavin Newsom is denying claims about Panera Bread getting a special exemption from California's new fast food minimum wage law. The law has a specific line, stating a bakery that sells bread on the premises is not considered fast food. Is Panera Bread exempt or not?
