Boeing in the news again with the 787 Dreamliner that dropped on its way to New Zealand and some of the other recent issues. Today, Southwest and United Airlines say they are freezing pilot and flight attendant hiring because Boeing has informed them they won’t be able to make expected deliveries. Southwest will get just 46 of 79 expected Max aircraft this year. And it comes as the New York Times reports Boeing and fuselage manufacturer Spirit Aerosystems failed dozens of FAA audits. Workers were allegedly seen using Dawn liquid soap as a lubricant and using a hotel room key to check a door seal. And a Boeing whistleblower has been found dead in Charleston. Police say it appears to have been a suicide.
