Listen: Ken Morton, Jr. Vice President, Morton Golf

June 8 and 9, the City of Sacramento, in partnership with Morton Golf, is proud to announce the 100-year Centennial celebration of the historic William Land Golf Course. Situated in the heart of Sacramento, this iconic 9-hole golf course has been a cornerstone of the community and a significant landmark in the landscape of public golf since its opening in 1924.

William Land Golf Course holds a rich history as Sacramento’s oldest public golf course. Named after the city’s prominent pioneer and philanthropist William Land, the course has welcomed golfers of all ages and skill levels for a century. Designed to be accessible and affordable, it has played a pivotal role in promoting the game of golf to the broader public, fostering a love for the sport that transcends generations.

To mark this momentous occasion, the City of Sacramento and Morton Golf are hosting a special double shotgun golf event on June 8th. The event will bring together public officials, media representatives, members of home clubs, and golf industry associations for a day of celebration and camaraderie. The event will feature two shotgun starts, with a luncheon held between each nine-hole round. During the luncheon, Northern California golf course architect Brett Hochstein will unveil his visionary plan for the future of William Land Golf Course. This presentation will provide a glimpse into what the next 100 years might look like for this beloved facility, ensuring it remains a vital part of Sacramento’s recreational landscape for generations to come.About William Land Golf Course:

On Sunday the 9th, however, we will be celebrating with the general public. Anyone that books a normal tee time that day will receive their choice of limited edition 100th anniversary swag including a golf shirt or a cap free of charge and we’ll be having lots of food and beverage specials all day long “rolling back the prices” in our Mulligan’s Café there at the clubhouse.
