Through First Step Communities, emancipated foster youth or youth between 18-24 experiencing homelessness, have been able to living in tough sheds that have been converted into tiny cabins.
The project is a great success, but the cabins were very sparse and bare-boned.
To enhance the cabins, a Grove Ave Cabin Beautification Competition was held. On March 27th and April 3rd, THIRTY TWO Builders and Trade Partners within the building industry, as well as other generous supporters of HomeAid Sacramento, will gather to transform 50 tough sheds that have been converted into tiny cabins, into a more dignified and comfortable space for the formerly unhoused emancipated foster youth who reside there. For youth between 18-24 experiencing homelessness, the improved spaces will provide a more functional and healing space for the deserving young people to transition into adulthood. .
