Sacramento History Alliance to Honor
Four Longtime Legacy Businesses at the Prestigious
2025 Burnett Awards Gala on October 9
The Sacramento History Alliance is proud and excited to announce the prestigious 7th Annual Burnett Awards on Thursday evening, October 9, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. The celebratory Burnett Awards are named in honor of the late Burnett Miller – a native Sacramentan, former mayor, community icon, philanthropist, business leader and one of the city’s most prominent history enthusiasts. Each year, the Sacramento History Alliance honors venerable businesses that have met and withstood the test of time and are recognized contributors to the community culture in the Sacramento region.
Emceed by KFBK News Radio’s Kitty O’Neal, the high-profile evening gala will take place in the expansive lobby of the Sacramento History Museum located at the Old Sacramento Waterfront. The event is a benefit fundraiser for the Sacramento History Museum and is presented by Burnett & Sons, Bank of Marin, and Country Club Lanes along with Allan Robin Insurance and Financial Services, Preservation Sacramento and SMUD.
The 2025 Burnett Award honorees include the following:
- Country Club Lanes – A beloved Sacramento institution since the mid-20th century, Country Club Lanes is a lively destination for bowling, birthdays, and late-night fun. Known for its neon glow, community spirit, and nostalgic atmosphere, the alley has served generations of families and league players, preserving a treasured piece of Sacramento’s cultural fabric.
- KFBK News Radio – A fixture in Sacramento since 1922, KFBK is the region’s longest-running radio station and a trusted source for news, talk, and community affairs. For over a century, it has helped shape public conversation and connect listeners across Northern California.
- Morgan Jones Funeral Home -- Deeply rooted in the city’s African American community, Morgan Jones Funeral Home provides thoughtful, respectful care in times of loss. Known for its grace, professionalism, and heartfelt service, it remains a vital part of the city’s cultural and community history.
- WeidnerCA -- A longtime Sacramento-based business, WeidnerCA has shaped the region’s visual landscape with expertly crafted, high-impact signage. From custom designs to lasting installations, its work has guided generations through the city’s evolving streetscapes—blending form, function, and community identity.
In addition, the Community Partner Awardee is ACC Senior Services that works to empower older adults to stay independent, engaged, and connected. And the Preservation Sacramento Award goes to Zelda's, a popular mainstay in Midtown since 1978.
Valet parking is available, and gala participants will enjoy wine and appetizers as part of the evening festivities. In addition to a limited number of sponsorships that are still available, individual 2025 Burnett Award ceremony and reception tickets cost $100 per person and can be purchased online at www.burnettawards.org.
