The Jim Martinez Quartet will present the jazz music from ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ on Friday, December 12, 2025. The concert starts at 6:30 pm and will take place at Fair Oaks Church, 11427 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks. There is no cost for admission, but a free-will offering will be taken to cover expenses.
This concert will feature many great songs from ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’, written or arranged by the late Bay Area pianist, Vince Guaraldi. Songs will include "Christmas Time Is Here", "O Tannenbaum” (AKA “O Christmas Tree”), and "Linus and Lucy”. Also included will be other holiday favorites like "White Christmas" and "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts)".
Internationally known for his arrangements of church hymns set to Jazz, Jim Martinez is a Steinway Artist. He has performed or recorded with notables like Lionel Hampton, the Stan Kenton Band, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove, Cheryl Bentyne of the Manhattan Transfer, and many others. Martinez has also worked as pianist and/or musical director for Joan Rivers and Bob Newhart.
In 2002, Clint Eastwood had this to say in an interview with the L.A. Daily News: "Last night, we went…where a guy named Jim Martinez was playing…They were great. You need to seek these people out.” Legendary Jazz pianist, Dave Brubeck, said this about Jim: "Your playing and all the musicians, including your vocalist, sound wonderful."
The beloved TV show is celebrating its 60th anniversary. 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’. The Peanuts animated special was first broadcast on CBS in 1965. It has been televised every year since.
