Singing, swinging Sacramento bandleader Peter Petty's annual big-band Yuletide revue “Hepcat's Holla’Daze!” is returning for its big 10th Anniversary show to the venerated Crest Theater on Saturday December 20th, 2025 at 7:30pm (doors open at 6:30pm).
Hepcat’s Holla'Daze!, starring Sacramento's own Man wit' da Flop Peter Petty, is backed by his unparalleled 12-piece Mercenaries of Merry! Jazz orchestra, and features a host of spectacular entertainers in this scintillating, syncopating, live, jive “Christmas Special.” It's a uniquely entertaining, truly one-of-a-kind event that, for more and more fans, has become an essential Sacramento holiday tradition.
Incorporating elements from the Harlem Renaissance, classic and neo-Burlesque artistry, and joyous holiday traditions, Hepcat's Holla’Daze! provides an opportunity to call the babysitter, “dress up to the nines,” and be transported to the cosmopolitan sophistication of those halcyon floor-shows of the height of the Swing Era. Mr. Petty’s award-winning showmanship, operatically trained 3 2/3 octave vocal range, singularly swinging orchestra, and favorite regional guest stars are sure to make this event a stocking stuffer to remember all through the New Year. And it ain't just perfunctory performances of the usual Christmas songs you’re already tired of hearing by the day after Thanksgiving, either! Nope, Hepcat's Holla'Daze! features unique holiday classics originally recorded by such diverse artists as Lionel Hampton, Louis Armstrong, Louie Prima, Ray Charles, James Brown, Bing Crosby, and even a little Tom Waits, and the Pogues, to name just a few.
And, the Crest has a full bar, so you can order up a few of Peter Petty’s signature cocktail, the peterpettytini, and get as lit up as the Christmas trees on the stage! (Just as long as you ain’t driving, of course.)
Guest stars this year include soul songstress Dana Moret; operatic baritone Omari Tau; Americana multi-instrumentalists Richie Lawrence and Robert Armstrong; Western Honky-tonk impresario Geoff Miller, burlesque divas Mone’t Ha-Sidi, Jean Heart, and Rebel Rose; and plenty of other surprises and special guests; they're all coming over to see what da Man wit' da Flop is doin' for the Holla'Daze!, and you should too!
Due to adult themes throughout the program, you'll probably be glad you left the kiddies at home for this one. This show is just a little something for Mommy and Daddy.
