Buddhist Suggests Meditation, Harmonica To Cope With COVID-19

There's a lot of stress and anxiety right now with fear over the coronavirus, but calming nerves may be as simple as sitting quietly for a few minutes, or taking a walk. Bob Kessler is a dharma teacher with the Buddhist Society for Compassionate Wisdom. He says we're creatures that need social contact, and being told to isolate can heighten stress and fear, but he suggests practicing meditation, and says even those new to the idea can do it by walking, chanting or humming music you love, or sitting still for a few minutes.

Manual labor is also a way to relieve stress, and even though you may be trapped at home, there are usually projects you can throw yourself into that will take your mind off of what's going on in the world.

Kessler is also a harmonica player and says another way to keep a smile on your face while stuck at home is to spend some time with your favorite hobbies.
