KFBK Morning News Show Recap - Tuesday November 23rd

Leads:

  1. A trend of violent "store takeover" robberies is starting to make its way from Northern California to Southern California. Just after midnight Monday, thieves with sledgehammers tried to smash the storefront windows of a Louis Vuitton and a Saks Fifth Avenue store in Beverly Hills, but the glass didn't break, which city officials say is by design.
  2. As California enters its 629th day of a COVID state of emergency, Governor Newsom has left the state with his family for a trip to Mexico for Thanksgiving. The Governor’s Office announced the trip on Monday hours after Newsom held a news conference at a vaccine clinic in San Francisco. Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis is acting governor while Newsom is out of the state. Newsom is set to return to California on Sunday.
  3. Sacramento State provost, Steve Perez, has been named the interim president of San Jose State University. Current university President Mary Papazian will step down next month as the school reels from a major sexual abuse scandal in its athletic department.
