Welcome to my home office. My back yard, a mug of coffee, a laptop, Cristina Mendonsa and Sam Shane on The KFBK Morning News streaming on the iHeartRadio app and a full inbox from overnight. Let's see what's new in our state and our world today:
- The Weather Service has revised its forecast yet again and now we will top 100 degrees today in Sacramento---101, to be exact, but we cool to 94 tomorrow and 86 on Thursday.
- The Los Angeles Times has a riveting new podcast about the Golden State Killer case called "The Man in the Window". We'll be going in-depth with the journalist who produces that podcast, Paige St. John, on today's KFBK Afternoon News between 4:00 and 7:00.
- Sad to tell you that the search has been called off for missing Sacramento-based automotive journalist Davey G. Johnson after ten days. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office says it's most likely Johnson is a victim of accidental drowning.
- And finally, as the dog lover on the KFBK Afternoon News (Kitty owns cats), I found this story fascinating: It seems that dogs know we respond to the big puppy eyes---and that over time, dogs developed this muscle to pull that particular face. Scientists say it's unique to domesticated dogs---wolves don't have that muscle. So, am I getting played by my miniature schnauzer?
Let me hear from you on these stories or others. There's a "comment" button at the bottom. And I'd love for you to follow me on Twitter and like my page on Facebook.
I hope you'll join KittyO'Neal, Dana Hess, Kelly Brothers and me today from 4:00 to 7:00 on The KFBK Afternoon News at 93.1 FM, 1530 AM and on the iHeartRadio app.
