CA Attorney General Reaches Billing Lawsuit Deal With Sutter Health

Sutter Health has reached an agreement with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra in a massive class-action lawsuit over allegations that the major health care provider to advantage of its strength in the market to stamp out any competition. The legal action also claimed Sutter overcharge patients for medical services.

A spokeswoman for Beccera said Wednesday that both sides reached this settlement agreement just in time to avoid going to court. The process was due to later this week.

Becerra actually joined the antitrust case against Sutter Health after it was filed on behalf of 1,500 employers.

Jennifer Molina, a spokeswoman for the Attorney General, declined any further comment on the settlement until the court issues a ruling on the final agreement at some point in the future.

Sutter Health has yet to provide public comment.

Lawsuit Accuses Sutter Of Sharing Private Patient Information

A new lawsuit filed this week accuses Sutter Health of sharing the medical information of the two plantiffs who are identified as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2. The sharing with third-party companies like Facebook and Google was done without the knowledge of the plantiffs, according to the suit.
