- California recently launched a new tool that allows fully vaccinated people to create a digital copy of their vaccination card. But, for some people, the smartphone app is not working as well as planned. In some cases, the app says the state has no record of their vaccination. Other people have gotten a QR code with the wrong information. The state vaccine task force explains the most likely cause is the user's phone number or address was entered incorrectly or illegibly when they got their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Federal authorities say a skydiving instructor involved in a deadly parachuting incident in Lodi is under arrest. Robert Pooley faces wire fraud and identity theft charges related to skydiving instruction classes he ran. Authorities say more than six people were victims of Pooley's scheme, including 25-year-old instructor Youg Kwon and 18-year-old Tyler Turner, who died after their tandem chute failed to open in Lodi in 2016. Pooley had a suspended teaching certificate at the time, but stole a digital signature from another instructor to file falsified paperwork with the U.S. Parachute Association for certification.
