- With word that Pfizer may be looking at getting authorization for the COVID vaccine in 5 to 11 year olds next month, one Northern California is already getting plans in place to vaccinate young children. A Sacramento County Grand Jury is recommending Covid-19 Vaccinations for students, teachers and staff. The Sacramento City Unified School District may require vaccinations for those ages 12 and older.
- California is preparing for over 5,255 Afghan refugees. Officials say they're among an initial wave of 37,000 evacuees coming to the U.S. A number of them have specifically requested refuge in states where they already have family connections. Many of those displaced previously worked for the U.S. government or military in Afghanistan.
- California voters may one day be required to show their government ID's before voting in an election. The proposal is called the "California Election Integrity Initiative." It would require election officials to verify the identity of voters, whether they vote in-person or by mail. If the initiative qualifies for the ballot, Californians would vote on it next year.
