Big Day of Giving Organizers Hoping to Top Last Year's Totals

With hundreds of non-profits participating in Sacramento’s 2018 Big Day of Giving, event organizers are hoping to set a new fundraising record this year.

The Sacramento Region Community Foundation's annual on-line giving challenge raised more than $7.2 million for almost 600 non-profits last year.  This year they’re setting their sights higher and wider:

“We would love to beat last year’s financial totals,” said Foundation CEO Linda Beech Cutler.  “We also want to increase the amount of participants… the amount of donors… the amount of excitement.”

To that end more than 70 special events are being held around town Thursday.

“It could be a collaboration of a number of non-profits talking and celebrating the work they do and encouraging donating right at that event,” Beech Cutler explained. “It could be an arts presentation or a cultural presentation.”
