Rocklin Man Arrested For Crash That Killed CHP Officer, Driver

The man responsible for the death of a CHP officer last week is now under arrest and facing felony charges.

Last Friday CHP officer Kirk Greiss and driver Jaime Manuel were killed by a passing Chevrolet pickup truck in Fairfield. That driver, 36-year-old Sean Matthew Walker of Rocklin, was reportedly on his phone and speeding when he crashed into them.

Solano County CHP Captain Mark Headrick says this was a preventable collision.

"Lives can be unalterably changed because of those actions," says Captain Headrick. "This is something that I never imagined I would have to speak out. It has effected us personally."

Walker is facing two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter and one count of reckless driving. If charged he could face up to 7 years in prison.

Officer Greiss is survived by his wife and three children. Manuel leaves behind his wife and daughter in the Philippines.
