  1. In another sign that California's recall election is too close to call, this morning President Biden has now entered the Frey. The president has issued a statement endorsing Governor Newsom... In a race that recent polls show is razor thin. The San Francisco chronicle is reporting this morning that both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will take more active roles in the campaign ahead of the Sept. 14 special election.
  2. The Sacramento region is also now majority nonwhite for the first time in history. People who identify as Asian and Latino accounted for the largest numbers of new residents, followed Black residents. Meanwhile, there were about 40,000 fewer people who identified as white.
  3. San Francisco is now requiring that residents show proof of coronavirus vaccination when entering a wide range of indoor businesses. This new mandate goes into effect on Aug. 20. 
  4. New data reveals July was the busiest month for illegal border crossings in over 20 years. the number of migrants detained along the southern border last month exceeded 200,000 for the first time in 21 years. It includes nearly 83,000 family members and about 19,000 unaccompanied minors, which is an all-time high. The July arrest total is a 13-percent increase from June.
