  1. Ukrainian forces have continued to hold strong as Russian troops march towards the capital of Kyiv. As the fighting between the two sides intensifies, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he has agreed to hold peace talks with the Russians on Monday (February 28) near the border of Belarus.
  2. Overnight, hundreds gathered on the steps of the State Capitol in support of the Ukraine.The state capitol was lit up in blue and gold Sunday night as people gathered in song and in prayer in support of Ukraine, which is currently engaged in military attacks by the Russian army.
  3. This morning Governor Newsom refuses to give up his emergency declaration which allows him to issue orders with no oversight or objection from the legislature. Parents across multiple districts are anticipating mask mandate changes within California schools, as several states are starting to ease back on restrictions for students.
  4. A proposal to suspend a gas tax hike in California has hit a roadblock. Republicans, and even Governor Newsom, support it. But Democrats at the Capitol want to keep the tax in place. Assembly Bill 1638 would give California motorists a FULL gas tax holiday. Rocklin Assemblyman Kevin Kiley is behind the proposal and says Golden State residents need a break from paying the highest gas prices in the nation.
