KFBK Morning News Show Recap - Monday April 11th

Lead Stories:

  1. Sacramento City crews will start clearing a homeless camp in the Arden-arcade neighborhood near the intersection of Howe Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard. Neighborhood residents and business owners have been complaining for months about the massive campsite and have been urging local leaders to clean it up. Crews will fence it off and prepare the land to lease it to a local group by mid-April.
  2. The school days for families in the Sacramento City Unified are about to get a little longer. California requires all school districts provide a minimum of 180-days of instruction in the school year.
  3. Organizers of an initiative petition to give students $14,000 each to attend the school of their choice say they've fallen short in collecting enough signatures to place the proposal on the November ballot. Supporters say they've managed to collect only 20% of the required number of signatures by today's deadline.
  4. A proposal that state lawmakers are considering would create a four-day work week for companies with more than 500 employees. The proposal would block companies from reducing how much employees earn when the number of hours in a work week are reduced from 40 to 32.
