  1. The SCUSD is considering adding 6 more instructional days to the school year to make up for lost days during the strike. Sacramento City Unified School District is once again facing financial distress soon after approving labor agreements to end its eight-day teacher strike.
  2. Rains this month have helped boost rainfall totals across the region but they're not enough to end the statewide drought, now entering its third year. It also means water restrictions in many municipalities will also not end anytime soon. Recent storms that brought wet weather to the Bay Area and most of Northern California last week dumped a massive amount of snow on the Sierra Nevada for the month of April, said the National Weather Service.
  3. Hundreds of trees in Sacramento are at risk of being cleared. The park next to the capitol building in Sacramento houses nearly 1,000 unique trees.
