POLL: Sheriff Jones Hosts Public Forum with ICE Director

In light of widespread concerns about immigration enforcement and talk of sanctuary cities, Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones will be hosting a community forum with the acting director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department today.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is taking aim at sanctuary cities. Sessions said Monday that policies protecting immigrant felons from immigration laws must not be allowed to continue, and federal funding might be pulled if they do continue.

The forum being held tonight by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and the nation's top immigration official aims to inform the public about what it means to be a sanctuary city.  

Mayor Darrell Steinberg has said he is opposed to the presence of the acting head of the U-S Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency at the forum.
