- Fully vaccinated workers in California do not have to wear a mask at the workplace. Cal/OSHA approved a revised set of rules which allows employees who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus the same freedoms as if they are off the job. Thanks to an executive order from Governor Gavin Newsom, the rules are now in effect.
- Unemployed Californians are going to have to actively start looking for work next month if they want to keep getting benefits. The state EDD is reinstating the work search requirement on July 11th. The longtime state requirement was waived in March of 2020 at the start of the pandemic. Folks must, once again, show proof they are trying to find a job each week in order to maintain their benefit eligibility.
- The California Independent System Operator is calling for a second consecutive Flex Alert. Today's alert is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Folks are asked to avoid using major appliances, turn off unnecessary lights and turn up the thermostat by a few degrees. Cal-ISO says all of those changes can help take the strain off of the state's power grid.
- Sacramento City Councilwoman Katie Valenzuela is suing the City of Sacramento after leaders asked a judge for a temporary restraining order against Valenzuela's new hire, Skyler Henry. During a podcast henry criticized the mayor and city manager and said they should be terrified. A judge rejected the temporary restraining order request.
- There are two sides to every story and despite the amount of unemployed workers in California, local businesses are still having trouble filling open positions. KFBK's Aubrey Aquino has more.
